Precise Unveils New Virtual Appliance to Download Enterprise TPM

By Meenakshi Shankar, TMCnet Contributor

Precise, a company specializing in transaction performance management (TPM) solutions, has developed a new lightweight Precise virtual appliance which enables customers to deploy TPM within minutes, making it ideal for managing new private cloud applications.

“The Precise Virtual Appliance means customers can plug TPM into existing enterprise applications and be up-and-running with TPM, managing enterprise applications, the same day,” Assaf Sagi, product manager for Composite Applications at Precise said in a press release.

“Customers can now rapidly build in-depth view of transactions within new cloud applications, by simply plugging in more Precise capabilities and without disrupting their businesses,” Sagi added.

Precise Transaction Performance Management is an end-to-end performance management platform that monitors, measures, analyzes, and tunes critical business systems from the end user to the physical data store.

The Precise Virtual Appliance is said to be particularly useful to customers with dynamic private cloud applications, giving them the agility needed by their complex environments. Unlike previous generations of application performance technology, which require the provisioning, deployment and configuration of a new server, the new Precise Virtual Appliance can be simply downloaded, named and made available to the network.

Precise believes that the rise of virtualization has made virtual appliances popular due to their self-sufficiency and rapid installation. With this announcement, Precise is of the opinion that its customers can become productive with basic TPM metrics within hours, achieving a return-on-investment in some cases within a few days.

“CIOs and IT directors are realizing that cloud applications have new monitoring and management requirements. Because of the dynamic nature of public and private cloud, traditional solutions designed for physical static environments are no longer adequate,” said Julie Craig, research director, Enterprise Management Associates said in a statement.

Recently TMC (News - Alert) reported on the partnership announcement made by Precise with Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK), Russia's largest iron and steel provider. Through this deal, MMK will now be using Precise software to recast the performance efficiency of its business-critical IT infrastructure.
