Facilitating faster, more widespread adoption of server and desktop virtualization, Astute Networks has unveiled ViSX G3, an innovative performance solution for VMware (VMW) virtualization environments.

Without the high cost and limitations of disk or competing flash technologies, ViSX G3 is the only product that provides purpose-built, optimized flash performance and full support for advanced virtualization functionality. In an existing virtualized infrastructure, the company’s Networked Performance Flash architecture and patented DataPump Engine technology enable each ViSX G3 solution to add dedicated sustained random IOPS performance the equivalent of hundreds of expensive enterprise disks to each host.

Uniquely optimized software, ViSX G3 is a combination of enterprise flash memory, Astute Networks patented DataPump Engine processor technology, and custom hardware. Apart from offering sustained flash performance, and multi-level RAID protection, the DataPump Engine processor delivers fully offloaded and accelerated network traffic (TCP/IP) and virtualized data store traffic (iSCSI), the company stated in a press release.

Recently, the company announced it has signed a strategic distribution agreement with Tech Data (News - Alert) Corporation to extend access of its ViSX G3 solution to businesses across the U.S. ViSX G3 is a turnkey solution for VMware infrastructure that accelerates server and desktop virtualization by delivering performance-optimized flash memory to virtual machines (VMs) over standard local area networks.
