Virtual Instruments, a provider of storage area network (SAN) and virtual infrastructure optimization solutions, announced the launch of its VirtualWisdom 3.0 product suite.The new product suite includes 8Gb SAN Performance Probe to offer comprehensive visibility across servers, networks and storage.

Leveraging VirtualWisdom 3.0, enterprises can improve infrastructure performance and availability. It can be utilized for reducing operating and capital expenditures. Acceleration of the transition of business-critical applications to a private cloud environment is one of the main benefits.

The VirtualWisdom 3.0 solution combines a new 8Gb-capable hardware probe with software features to deliver expanded monitoring support.

Virtual Instruments’ VirtualWisdom 3.0 platform is expected to assist enterprises to ensure performance of business-critical applications in a virtualized environment through real-time analysis of SAN I/O traffic data, company officials said.

“IT departments purchased server, application, database and network monitoring tools long before Fibre Channel SANs were implemented,” said Valdis Filks, research director of Gartner (News - Alert). “Therefore, administrators often have a large number of tools to manage and interrogate these components, but few that report on the storage and SAN fabric.”

Recently, Virtual Instruments announced its partnership with Splice Group, a provider of Fiber Channel management solutions. By combining the Virtual Instruments' SANInsight TAP Patch Panel System with the Splice Group's bespoke cassette systems, they aim to simplify SAN monitoring.
