Hybrid Clouds Secured by AFORE's Comprehensive Platform

By Carolyn J Dawson, TMCnet Contributor

A comprehensive security platform for the hybrid public and private cloud has been made available by AFORE Solutions (News - Alert) Inc. AFORE is a top provider of cloud security and management solutions.

CloudLink has been seamlessly integrated by AFORE with VMware vCloud Connector. User applications from an enterprise can be therefore securely deployed to the public cloud. The deployments can be also monitored. Point and click deployment; and advanced SLA monitoring and Trust Watch are some of its specific features.

Robust AES-256 encrypted secure storage within the cloud datacenter is provided by CloudLink virtual appliances. Control of encryption keys can be therefore maintained by enterprises. The scalability and cost effectiveness of the hybrid cloud environment can prove to be advantageous for the enterprises. At the same time, mission-critical and security-sensitive applications are not exposed to third-party vulnerabilities.

In a release, Edward Haletky, CEO and Analyst for The Virtualization Practice, said, "AFORE CloudLink provides important additional layers of security between clouds including those that make use of VMware vCloud Director and can replace or significantly augment VMware's solutions for such clouds."

Encrypted VXLAN wide area extension is also included in the new capabilities announced. The CloudLink portfolio is therefore expanded to next generation hybrid cloud environment. The range of virtual networks available for multi-tenant cloud datacenters is greatly expanded due to the emerging VXLAN technology standard. Virtual machine data are encapsulated in a Layer 3 outer wrapper for the same. Greater scale and customer isolation in the cloud are therefore offered by this new suite of networking capabilities.

The customer's virtual infrastructure is tied to the cloud provider's infrastructure over secure wide area connections by CloudLink's encrypted VXLAN extension. Superior management and monitoring capabilities are provided through continuous SLA monitoring for latency, bandwidth, packet loss and throughput, with in-band diagnostics.

Misha Nossik, CTO at AFORE, said, "CloudLink provides a unique solution that combines scalability and ease of management with critical security, control and visibility. Enterprises now have the ability to realize the full benefits of a secure hybrid cloud environment and we are excited to once again be leading the cloud security market by providing a secure, high-performance and scalable solution."
